Oh Glorious Day

Psalms 113:3, 115:1,16-18
3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.
1 Not to us, O LORD, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
16 The highest heavens belong to the LORD,
but the earth he has given to man.
17 It is not the dead who praise the LORD,
those who go down to silence;
18 it is we who extol the LORD,
both now and forevermore.
Praise the LORD.

Have you ever been in complete awe by something that is so beautiful you can't help but think that it was a glimps of God Almighty? Something so precious, wonderful, and breath taking you want to fall to your knees in worship? I wish there was some way to truly capture that moment where God so graciously bestows upon me the most sweetest of all gifts in the form of His mighty creation. It is what draws me most to His throne and to my knees in worship. On my past adventure up north with my family I tried to capture a few of these amazing 'sunset moments' and I want to share them with you now. Enjoy

We sang a song at church on Sunday and its chorus goes like this:

Living He loved me
Dying He saved me
Buried He carried my sins far away
Rising He justified
Freely forever
One day He's coming
Oh, Glorious Day
Oh, Glorious Day

God has been laying on my heart the depth of His love for me and the great extent of sacrifice that He went through for me, His enemy. In lue of what he as done, I am learning about my response back to Him for the world around me. I know I am no where near done or where I want to be, but Praise God who continually pursues me and draws me to Himself. I am NOTHING without Christ, yet in Him I have all that I need. Oh what a glorious day that will be when I am standing face to face before my Creator and Savior!

Psalms 66:
10 For you, O God, tested us;
you refined us like silver. 11 You brought us into prison
and laid burdens on our backs.
12 You let men ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance.
Some time ago, a few ladies met in a certain city to read the scriptures,
and make them the subject of conversation. While reading the third chapter
of Malachi they came upon a remarkable expression in the third verse.

"And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." Malachi 3:3. One
lady's opinion was that it was intended to convey the view of the
sanctifying influence of the grace of Christ. Then she proposed to Visit a
silversmith and report to them what he said on the subject.

She went accordingly and without telling the object of her errand, begged
to know the process of refining silver, which he fully described to her.

"But Sir" she said, "do you sit while the work of refining is going on?"
Oh, yes madam," replied the silversmith; "I must sit with my eye steadily
fixed on the furnace, for if the time necessary for refining be exceeded
in the slightest degree, the silver will be injured."

The lady at once saw the beauty, and comfort too, of the expression, "He
shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." Christ sees it needful to
put His children into a furnace; His eye is steadily intent on the work of
purifying, and His wisdom and love are both engaged in the best manner for
them. Their trials do not come at random; "the very hairs of your head are
all numbered." Matthew 10:30

As the lady was leaving the shop, the silversmith called her back, and
said he had forgotten to mention that he only knows when the process of
purifying is complete when he sees His own image reflected in the silver.

This is a good parable to let God's people know that when trials and
tribulations may come our way, we are to count it all joy because the end
of that trial will make us stronger and more faithful than we were before
the trial. I encourage you to be strong and never let a problem or trial
get you down or lose your joy. Jesus is still on the throne and still in
control of every situation so never feel discouraged or defeated in Jesus
mighty name I say these things to you.

Time to turn a new leaf

For the past five years I have been sending out periodic updates about my life and adventures at school. I loved sharing what God was doing in my life and getting emails back from you that told of your weekly adventures as well. However, it is time to turn a new leaf and abandon the previous method of communication to begin anew on this blog. From the sound of it, you might think that this phrase is relating to budding green leaves in the spring, which has an accurate picture of renewal and fresh starts. However, the term actually refers to turning the page of a book. The implication is that one is turning over the previous page with the old, and starting anew on a fresh page. With less than a year left in my college career, (which is still crazy to say) and a new chapter in life beginning after school I felt it appropriate to dedicate this first blog to those new things.

The blog itself was encouraged by a dear friend and its name refers to the amazing moments, like watching a sunset, that God has given me that I can record and share with you. Feel free to read at your leisure, comment at your will, and join with me in praising God for His wonderful sunset moments.
